Alan J. Cook
Alan
J. Cook is the Founder of 726 Ventures. He is a dynamic leader
with a demonstrated ability to develop innovative products and services,
establish partnerships and build organizations. Mr. Cook is highly
respected in venture capital and technology communities, and is
lauded as a charismatic yet disciplined manager, fostering creativity
and strategic execution in hyper-growth environments.
Previously, Alan founded ActivityOne, which
published an interactive directory and registration service and
sold a database and accounting ASP software application. Mr. Cook
raised more than $1 million from private investors and led a development
partnership with Veripark in the country of Turkey to launch initial
service within 60 days. He was also responsible for creating marketing
partnerships with Knight-Ridder, Gymboree, and Unisys and the sales
of online registration and credit card payment systems to more than
50 clients.
Prior to launching ActivityOne, Mr. Cook was Vice
President, Business Development, Prima Facie, Inc., where he
created a new business unit to develop Internet devices and web-centric
video surveillance services. Alan developed the eWitness
business concept and implementation strategy; secured external capital;
created and deployed working prototypes; negotiated partnerships
with ADT, EMC, Micron and Sprint, and lead pilot customer applications
in the self-storage industry. SafetyVision acquired
Prima Facie in March 2001.
Mr. Cook served as the Manager Strategic Projects,
Infonautics Corporation, a publicly traded Internet pioneer,
reporting to the
CEO and Board of Directors. Previously, he was an Analyst
at the strategy-consulting firm Marakon Associates.
Alan graduated from the Management & Technology
Dual-Degree Program of the Wharton School of Business and
the University of Pennsylvania. He earned a BS in Economics
with concentrations in Finance and Strategy and a BSE with a major
of Mechanical Engineering.
Mr. Cook played on the Men’s Ice Hockey Team at Penn
and is currently chairing RunAlanRun.org,
a fundraising and training program for the Chicago Marathon.
